We will have to vacate our rooms by 10 AM, you can leave your bags/suitcases at the Reception area and return your room keys to your group leader. You will have free time until Our Departure time, which is at 5 pm, so will be expecting everyone to get to the Hostel by 4.45 pm, so that you will have enough time to collect your bags. We will be going with a minibus, so only rucksack / backpacks allowed. Scotland is still part of the UK, so you do not need your Passport to travel :). Please make sure you bring your Student IDs and National IDs as proof of age. Otherwise, you wont be allowed in any pubs/clubs in the evening. |
Edinburgh
5-6 November 2016 Price: £65 Members / £74 Non Members (return transportation, 1 Nights YH accommodation & group leader) 5 November, Saturday Departure Points/Times: Nixon Court, 5 AM Mary Gee Houses, 5.15 AM John Foster: 5.25 AM Loughborough Student's Union: 6 AM Nottingham Trent: 6.30 AM Leicester to Edinburgh: around 300 miles/ around 6.5 hours Upon arrival, we will check into our Hostel and go for a walking tour until Edinburgh Castle so that you familiarise yourself with the city. Then, you will be free to start exploring the city. We suggest you take the free walking or historical tours at 2 PM leaving from in front of the Starbucks on Royal Mile. You can find more information on the Maps that you will be given at the reception. Main attraction that you have to see on Saturday is the Edinburgh Castle, National Museum of Scotland and the Royal Mile. Then you can head down to the Xmas Market, which is the second best after London Winter Wonderland :). In the evening you can go for one of the GHOST Tours, or go for a crazy night out :), there are plenty of events happening as it is the St Andrew's Weekend. Around 9 PM, we will meet up and go out for a memorable night out:). |
30 October, Saturday
Departure from our hostel: 9 AM We will straight go to Grasmere for our first walk around Rydal Lake (around 1 hour and 30 minutes), on the way back we will be giving a short tea break, if you do not wish to join us, you can visits Dove Cottage. At 12.30 PM, Grassmere Ginger Bread shop will open where you can buy your famous ginger bread. Departure from Grasmere is at 12.45. We will straight go to Keswick, where you can have lunch or buy it to have it on our next walk, where we will give a short break at the end of it, we usually have a little picnic (weather allowing). Our second walk will be on Aire Force, it will be around 1 hour and 30 min. Departure time from Lake District is 4.30 PM Aire Force to Leicester is around 210 miles/4 hours Please make sure you bring your: -rain coats -walking shoes (better wellington boots) -student cards and some kind of ID with your date of birth on it |
Lake District (Cumbria)
29-30 October 2016 Price: £65 Members / £74 Non Members (return transportation, YH accommodation, group leader & walking tours) 29 October, Friday Departure Points/Times: Nixon Court: 6 AM Mary Gee Houses: 6.15 AM John Foster: 6.25 AM Loughborough Student's Union: 7 AM Nottingham Trent: 7.30 AM Leicester to Windermere: around 180 miles/3 hours and 30 minutes Upon arrival, you will be given a brief introduction about Lake Windermere and the ferries that you can take. Things to do -Cruise on Windermere. There are 3 different ferries that you can take on Windermere. (strongly suggest that you take the yellow line as it takes you to the other side of the lake where you can get off and go for a walk and use the same ticket to come back) -Beatrix Potter Museum (you do not need to go into the museum, you can straight go to the gift shop) -Plenty of short walks around and cute shops in the little town of Bowness-Windermere. At 6 PM we will be picked up to go to our Hostels. The hostels have self-catering kitchens, so we would suggest you bring/buy your own food for dinner. They also have private rooms available if you wish to upgrade. |

09.00, we will vacate our rooms and go for a short walk on the beach (weather permitting) or head to St David’s to visit the town until 11 am. 11.00 we will be heading to to Brecon Beacon Waterfall Centre 13.00-14.00, Lunch (if you haven't had sunday roast you probably want to as there is a really nice countryside pub by the Waterfall centre), otherwise, there are few other places around where you can buy lunch. 14.00, waterfall walks 17.00, departure time from Waterfall Centre Please make sure you bring your: -Passport or ID -rain coats -walking shoes (better wellington boots) -student cards |
South Wales (Cardiff)
TBC 21 March, Saturday Departure Points/Times: John Foster: 6 AM Mary Gee Houses: 6.15 AM Nixon Court: 6.25 AM Loughborough Student's Union: 7 AM Nottingham Trent: 7.30 AM Leicester to Cardiff: around 155 miles/ around 3 hours Upon arrival, we will take you for a short walking tour. We will be seeing the Cardiff Castle, Millennium Stadium, city centre and then dropped at the tourist information. Then you will have the whole day free to explore the city. Everything is around the city centre, however, you will need to walk or take the bus to Cardiff Bay, which is definitely worth seeing. At 18.00, we will meet at the coach park where we will be dropped off to go to our hostel, which will be 2.5 hours drive as we will be staying at Broad Haven YHA on the West Coast. On our way, we will stop at a supermarket so that you can buy your food to cook at the hostel. |
North Wales (Snowdonia)
Date: TBC Price: £65 (return transportation, YH accommodation, continental breakfast & walking tours) Day 1, Saturday Departure Points/Times: Nixon Court: 6 AM Mary Gee Houses: 6.15 AM John Foster: 6.25 AM Nottingham Newton Building 7.15 AM Leicester to Snowdonia: 182 miles/ around 3 hours and 30 min Upon arrival we will go for a walk up on Snowdonia (3 hours return), then we will head to Caernarfon for lunch and to visit the Caernarfon Castle. Later on we will go back to the Snowdonia National Park where our hostel is located. We will be staying at YHA Snowdon Ranger. After dinner we will head to Llanberis for a night out. Day 2, Sunday Departure from the Hostel: 9 AM We will be going straight to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwll-llantysiliogogogoch (the longest single word domain name in the world), please bring your passport as you can get a stamp. Then we will be heading to Bangor Pier and then visit Bangor. After Bangor we will be going to Betws-y-Coed for our second walk (2 hours 30 min). Departure time from Betws-y-Coed will be at 4.30 pm.
